Human shield is coming home

HUMAN shield Grace Trevett is on her way home from Iraq. The Stroud mother is among the dozen 'peace ambassadors' who have left Baghdad amid safety fears.

She is currently in Jordan and is expected to fly home on Friday. Grace was one of the first shields to reach Iraq.

She spent time helping out in a hospital and welcoming the peace activists who arrived in Baghdad later on.

But now they have been told they can no longer visit hospitals as Iraqi as the authorities began clamping down on their movements.

In previous weeks Grace spoke to the News & Journal about her fears that this might happen and was concerned about becoming a pawn in Saddam's regime.

She vowed if officials started dictating what they could and could not do she would leave. She is expected to arrive back in Stroud at the weekend.

Some 200 shields are remain in Bahgdad.
