THE public toilets at Stratford Park are causing a stink between visitors and Stroud District Council
"They must be the worst toilets in Gloucestershire ," Lypiatt grandmother Jenny Bircher told the SNJ.
Ms Bircher 57, was shocked by the state of the loos in the car park outside Stratford Park Leisure Centre when she visited with her grandchildren last Monday.
She said: "They were absolutely disgraceful. People had thrown paper all over the place and there was excrement on the floor.
"I went back in on Thursday and they still hadn't been cleaned." Ms Bircher has reported the toilets to the Environmental Health.
She said: "It's a bad advertisement for Stroud. "People using the park use those toilets. It's absolutely shameful."
Ms Bircher said she often visited the leisure centre with her grandchildren and found the facilities very good but the toilets were letting down the area.
Karen Toole, Stroud District Council's head of culture, sport and tourism, said leisure centre manager Brian Lippett would be doing spot checks at the toilets.
They were inspected and cleaned daily by management company CCL, she said, but because they were used by passers-by and not just leisure centre visitors they could be hard to keep clean.
She stressed that any future complaints should be made to her or Mr Lippett. She said: "If people report it to the management we can do something about it."
