Five star Polly causes a stir

EWE just wouldn't believe it ...and neither did King's Stanley farmer Pat Tasker when she witnessed not one baby lamb but FIVE born to her 2-year-old ewe Polly.

"This was Polly's first birth and we are delighted not to mention hugely surprised by the amount of lambs she has produced," said Pat from Willowbrook Farm.

Pat could be forgiven for thinking people might find her tale of the five lambs a bit woolly. "I think it is very unusual for a ewe to have so many lambs at one time," she said.

Martin Harris from Bowbridge Vets, Stroud said: "I don't think I've ever known a ewe to have five lambs in my 15 years of being a vet.

"One or two is usually the norm, occasionally I've heard of three and very rarely, four. It will be a lot to look after."

Polly was looking a bit sheepish about all the fuss this week but she and the five lamb's are doing fine.
