A MOTHER whose five-year-old son opened a threatening letter after she was confused with a high profile anti-war protester has made an impassioned plea to her abusers.
Pamela Mayford of Stroud has begged whoever sent the aggressive note that she received on Saturday to leave her and her young family alone.
She stressed that she has no connection to Jon Mayford, pictured burning an American flag in the Stroud News and Journal on March 26.
"The letter said I should look over my shoulder," she said, "and that someone would be watching me."
The envelope had a first class stamp and was posted in Gloucestershire.
"It was addressed to me so my son opened it," she said. "It was very frightening."
Pamela said she was against the war and had even been on one of the marches in London but was not involved in burning the flag.
"I believe in freedom of speech," she said, "but this letter was a cowardly bullying tactic.
"It just shows how mindless some people are." Pamela has passed the letter on to the police.
