A COUNCIL worker has been suspended and an investigation is underway after police seized a computer from Ebley Mill at the request of the council last Thursday.
Stroud District Council has refused to give further details on the nature of the case while the investigation continues but has issued a brief statement on the subject.
"As a result of an ongoing internal investigation the police were invited to examine computer equipment," said spokesman David Marshall.
"The one member of staff involved is currently under suspension."
Police spokesman Steve Partridge said: "Police can confirm that they have seized computer equipment from Stroud District Council offices in relation to allegations of its improper use.
"They have also carried out a search warrant on a private house in Stroud where computer equipment was seized."
"Officers are currently investigating and inquiries are continuing but no-one has been arrested."
Six other members of staff at the council are also under suspension in relation to an unrelated matter, which the council again declined to expand on.
