Smashing response

VISITORS to Stroud's Museum in the Park are still able to catch Stroud artist Cleo Mussi's exhibition The Crowd, which has been very well received. It closes on Sunday, April 27.

"Much of the work is delightfully witty, whimsical and even a touch bizarre," said Museum administrator Abigail Large. "Be warned; you might be inspired to go home and smash all your best china!"

Asked whether she had been inspired to smash any crockery to make mosaics herself, she said: "I've only done it accidentally! I am going to make mosaics, though. I'm thinking of having a mosaic-making party.

The response has been fantastic; lots of people have left the exhibition saying they really want to make mosaics."

"Not that the museum actually recommends smashing up the crockery to make the mosaics!" she added hurriedly.

The Museum is also bringing back its Easter Egg hunt for children of all ages, which involves searching the museum for clues which will eventually spell out an Easter word that enables the successful hunter to claim their chocolate.

There's also a free Spring Scarecrows workshop for children and their parents or carers with artist Catherine Flexen on Wednesday, April 23. The workshop starts at 10.30am.

For more information or to pre-book, call the Museum on 01453 763394. The museum is closed on Good Friday, but opens on Easter Monday between 11am and 5pm.
