Stroud pair star in Welsh open

STROUD area junior squash players Josh Saysell from Stonehouse and Sam Cantle of Nailsworth claimed a unique feat in Gloucestershire Junior Squash circles recently when they met in the final of the Welsh Open under 13 tournament held in Cardiff.

The two local youngsters overcame fierce opposition from all over the United Kingdom to progress through to the final where Josh eventually emerged as the winner of a close and entertaining contest.

Meanwhile, the Stroud youngsters have also achieved considerable success on court this season as members of the Gloucestershire Under 13 team, four of whom are Stroud based.

Along with Nick Reider-Katsipis from Stroud, Anthony Graham of Brimscombe and James Hessian from Cheltenham they have captured the South West League championship and also the Five Counties tournament.

And to crown a superbly successful campaign, the team have also finishing a highly creditable fourth in the National Premier League.
