Dancer Emily has star quality

A BUDDING young star has been plucked from obscurity and offered a scholarship at a popular Gloucester drama school after being discovered in Stroud. .

Emily Short, 7, has been awarded a one-year scholarship at the Mandy Godding Dance and Theatre Arts School where she will learn the skills of the stage.

"She is over the moon," said Emily's mother (Mrs) (name to come) Findlay. "It's every kid's dream."

Emily was spotted after the dance teacher was from the Mandy Godding School was giving dance lessons at Parliament Primary School.

Emily will be going over to Gloucester twice a week to study singing, drama, ballet, tap and modern dance.

"I don't like to blow her trumpet but I suppose she stood out," said mum (name to come) "She had 'it' whatever 'it' is."

Mrs Findlay said her daughter was really excited about the scholarship and had danced all the way back to the car after her first lesson. "I'm very proud and really pleased for her," she said.

Michael Clifton from the performing arts school said Emily had really stood out from the crowd and the school was glad to give her what could be the first step on the ladder towards celebrity.

"She stood out immediately as having charisma, performance quality and that certain 'x'-factor," he said.

And he added: "She's only a young child at the moment but she will be learning all the rudimentary skills of a professional performer." "Who knows where she might move up."
