All tastes catered for at vintage rally

A CRICKET eating exhibitor added to the spectacle of the two day fifth annual Frocester vintage vehicle rally last weekend.

Despite the rain, crowds flocked to the show held in 18 acres of stunning grounds at the Home Farm Trust at Frocester Manor.

The reptiles and insects were the new attraction alongside the old favourite, the Frocester vintage rally.

The slithery and scaly creatures went down a storm as did Bob Hayden from Cheltenham who displayed his vast array of snakes, spiders, tarantulas, lizards and cockroaches.

The reptile lover brought gasps from the crowds when he emulated TV's I'm a Celebrity, Phil Tuffnel, the recently crowned King of the Jungle by tucking into a , one of the staple snacks of his reptiles.

Alongside this, the Reptile Trust were on hand to offer advice to people who own reptiles.

For fans of transport, a special treat saw the oldest side-car in the world a 1903 Graham Brothers vehicle on display. Other attractions included a birds of prey demonstration, wood turning, teddy bear making, a mock cowboy fight and a fly fishing demonstration staged at the Victorians Pond.

Also making a welcome return was the Cotswold Pheasant and Poultry Club displaying many types of fowl and offering practical advice.

"It was a great two day's," said Shelly Brooks-Olpin one of the rally organisers. "The turn out was lower on the Saturday but on Sunday people absolutely flooded in.

"This year we raised £3,000 which is are best amount in the five years the rally has been on."

All proceeds will go to the welfare fund for the residents of the Frocester Manor home.
