Game may be fatal

CHILDREN could be putting their lives at risk by playing a deadly game on Rodborough Common.

police received reports of youngsters attempting to torch a swathe of the common on Saturday evening and have said it is a prank that could all-too-easily get out of control.

Sgt Mike Yhnell of Stroud police said there had been similar problems in the past and it was lucky nobody was hurt.

"Fortunately only a small patch has been damaged this time," he said.

"But in the dry weather the flames spread very fast.

"Fire can really tear across the common and children could easily get caught out."
