Cricket tutition for young stars

FORMER Gloucestershire cricket ace Nick Trainor will be offering expert youth coaching from July 22-25.

The course will be run at Frocester Cricket Club and will include tuition in batting and bowling skills, fielding drills, net practices, cricket matches and games/competitions.

The tuition is open to boys aged from 8-16.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to use two cricket fields, a bowling machine, three artificial and two grass nets plus two middle cricket wickets.

On day three of the coaching clinic there will be a trip to the Cheltenham Cricket Festival to watch Gloucestershire play Worcestershire in a County Championship match. The boys will be allowed on the field at lunchtime to play cricket.

The cost of the course will be £45 per-person. If you have your own cricket kit, please bring it along, if not kit will be provided. You will need to bring your own packed lunch.

All cheques and remittance forms must be received by July 1.

Meanwhile tickets are still available for Frocester Cricket Club Sporting Dinner which takes place on July 3.

l STROUD'S favourite sporting son, Jack Russell could be out for six weeks after fracturing his left thumb. The Gloucestershire wicketkeeper could miss the Cheltenham Festival after being struck last Thursday during the Twenty 20 Cup win over Northants.

Meanwhile, Gloucestershire were due to play Glamorgan last night (Tuesday) in the Twenty 20 Cup. Victory would see John Bracewell's side qualify for the semi-final stages at Trent Bridge.

Gloucestershire return to Frizzell County Championship action on Friday against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.
