Thanks for long service

CELEBRATIONS were held at Horsley Primary School on Friday to thank Mrs Min Hogg for her 22 years as teacher at the school and to mark her retirement.

Mrs. Hogg, who began her teaching career in 1969, has taught at Horsley School since 1981 and is the longest serving member of staff.

In the afternoon, a service of thanksgiving was held at Horsley Church and entertainment was provided by the pupils, who sang, played recorders, read poetry, and danced.

In the evening a reception was held at Horsley village hall and was attended by staff, governors, parents and pupils of the school, both past and present.

headteachers, Governors, and Parents spoke of the enormous contribution that Mrs. Hogg had made to the school over the years including her initiatives with Primary French exchanges, and adventure activities for pupils.

Mrs. Hogg, spoke of her career in teaching, her memories of Horsley School over the years, and her hopes for the future.

She has seen the school grow from 32 pupils to more than 100.

Mrs Hogg is hoping to travel and spend more time gardening although she will still keep in touch with Education through her role as a KS2 English Sats marker.
