POPULAR poet Roger McGough is coming to Stroud and the SNJ is offering VIP tickets and the chance to meet the man himself.
Roger, 'a trickster you can trust', is one of the country's best-loved poets who won celebrity with the top-selling Mersey Sound anthology with fellow Scousers Brian Patten and Adrian Henri.
He currently has a weekly slot on Radio 4 with poetry request show Poetry Please and occasionally hosts Home Truths when John Peel's not about.
His latest collection, Everyday Eclipses, is published by Penguin Viking and offers great advice to Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix and rock 'n' rollers of all ages.
He will be signing copies of the book at his Stroud gig.
Roger was recently honoured with the Freedom of the City of Liverpool and now grazes his sheep in the Albert Dock.
He will be entertaining an audience in the Subscription Rooms on Saturday, July 17 at An Evening With Roger McGough, presented by the Maxwell Creative Partnership.
Tickets start at £10, or £8 for concessions, and are available from the box office on 01453 760900.
For the chance to win a pair of front-row tickets, a chance to speak with Roger after the reading and a signed copy of his book of your choice answer the simple question on the coupon in this week's paper and return it to Roger McGough Competition, Stroud News & Journal, Lansdown, Stroud, GL5 1BE no later than Friday, July 11.
The first correct answer to be pulled out of the hat will be the winner.
All usual SNJ competition rules apply.
