Williams brace shares the spoils for spirited Celtic

Stroud League Division Seven Victoria Celtic 3 Trident Reserves 3

VICTORIA CELTIC demonstrated great bounce-back ability to finish on level terms with Trident.

A brace from Joel Williams saved the day for Celtic after finding themselves two goals down.

However, in the second half Celtic carried on where they left off, playing some good football in the difficult conditions, resulting in a fine 25-yard strike from Joel Williams, mirroring his first half effort disallowed for offside.

With Celtic reinvigorated they pressed forward for the equaliser and after superb link-up play between James Jordan and John Ferguson down the right wing an excellent cross was headed into his own goal by a Trident defender.

After dominating the first 30 minutes of the second half Celtic took their eye off the ball and allowed Trident back into the match and from a subsequent free kick the defence ignored the call of sweeper Lloyd Williams and allowed Trident an easy third goal. Nonetheless, Celtic rallied and applied themselves.

Their reward was a penalty after Ferguson was bundled over and Joel Williams buried the resulting penalty.
