Blistering rock from Ramones tribute band

A NIGHT of blistering retro rock comes to The Space, Lansdown, Stroud next weekend with a Ramones tribute night, featuring one of the country's leading Ramones tribute bands 53rd and 3rd next weekend.

The show is a memorial for Johnny Ramone, who died earlier this year, and will feature support from Chinese Burn, the band formed from reclaimed relics of unsinkable Stroud punk gods Titanic. There will also be a punk and pre-punk DJ.

53rd and 3rd formed in the wake of The Ramones' final gig in 1996 and have been playing together ever since in various forms. They started by recreating the band's live sound; now they recreate the studio sound of the original New York punk heroes, only somewhat faster.

They have played with Dee Dee Ramone, Stiff Little Fingers, 999 and The Stranglers. The show takes place on Saturday, November 6 at 8.45pm. Tickets, at £5, are available in advance from Trading Post and Kane's Records. The event finishes at midnight and there will be a real ale bar with Czech lagers.
