Elegant shelter for school

THE FIRST part of a controversial new development at Cotswold Chine School in Box will opened on Monday, October 18.

A new bus shelter on Minchinhampton Common by architects David Austin and Associates on Minchinhampton Common was opened by Green Stroud District councillor John Marjoram.

Office manager Betsy Vincent said: "The point we would like to get across is that we are doing this development in a way that is sensitive to the environment, that is involving local crafts people and not just banging up some plastic thingy."

The complete development at the special school will include a new training centre, visitor centre and an extension to neighbouring Halfway Inn.

Stroud District Council passed the plans in April this year despite the objections of Minchinhampton Parish Council and some villagers that it was out of place in the conservation area.
