STROUD Swimming Club travelled to Keynsham to take part in a gala designed to give the younger swimmers with good competitive experience.
With age groups from nine years through to 12 years it meant that some new names had the chance to show their mettle in the competition pool.
The night started with the u9s girl's freestyle relay team gaining second place behind Keynsham "A". This set the pattern for the gala as the hosts proved much too strong for everyone however the other teams, Bristol Central, Backwell, Keynsham "B" and Stroud proved much more evenly matched and an enthralling contest prevailed.
With Keynsham "A" being so dominant Stroud had to wait until race 15 before their first win. This was delivered by Megan Roberts in the u11s 50m freestyle.
Next in line came the u10s medley relay squad of Z Browning, I Wells, Z Bartholomew and N Johnston who also took first place in the 50m freestyle race while Zoe Bartholomew moved up an age group and won the u11s 50m butterfly.
Congratulations go to Rebecca Stevens, Jenny Wells, Imogen Wells, Cara Froggatt,Eleanor Mitchell, Alice Porter, Callum Jones and Jake Milton who all swam well.
Final result:Keynsham A 221, Stroud 130, Bristol Central 127, Backwell 122, Keynsham B 107.
