Enjoy evening with rock and roll legend

BRITISH rock and roll legend Marty Wilde comes to the Subscription Rooms in Stroud next weekend with a night of nostalgia and music.

Described as "the original King of British rock and roll", Wilde and his band The Wildcats are currently their acclaimed show Born to Rock and Roll; a heady mixture of memories and magical music.

"The night should attract not only his original fans, but a whole host of new ones," said the Subscription Rooms' Baibre McAteer.

Wilde first entered the UK charts in 1958 with Endless Sleep, which was followed by a slew of smash hits. He later appeared on the Saturday Night TV Show, Oh Boy and Boy Meets Girl.

As well as appearing in numerous television shows, Wilde also appeared in a number of movies, including the western Jet Stream and alongside David Essex in the huge hit Stardust.

It is for his music that he is most fondly remembered, however. and Wilde - also known as "the nice man of rock and roll" - will be recalling stories of his favourite gigs, paying tribute to his showbiz friends (including his great friend Billy Fury) and, most importantly, playing a medley of his biggest hits, from Donna to Jezebel.

The show takes place on Friday, November 12 at 7.30pm. Tickets for this evening of delicious nostalgia and even tastier music will cost £12.50 or £10.50 concessions and are available from the box office.
