Champion brings curtain down on geat boxing year

WESTERN Area light heavyweight champion Leigh Alliss will bring the curtain down on a successful year of boxing next month.

Alliss, 29, with face a tough test against African Valery Odin at Bristol City's Ashton Gate Stadium next month.

Alliss has been delighted with his rise in 2004, but admits the up coming six-round clash at Bristol City's with on Friday, December 3 could prove to be his toughest fight yet.

"He will certainly be a tough opponent and probably the toughest boxer I have faced in my career," said Alliss.

With five wins this year, including the title victory in October, Alliss is approaching 2005 in a positive fashion.

"This year has been very good for me and all the hard work paid off. Whatever happens in my career I will always be able to say that I was the best in the West." Alliss, who is now ranked 20th in Britain, is now gunning for a British title.

"I need to get into the top ten this year and then all things being equal I would be in a position to fight an eliminator, to enable me a title shot.
