Peace movement issues plea

THE CAMPAIGN to impeach Tony Blair reached the streets of Stroud this weekend.

Members of Stroud Peace Movement used their weekly vigil on the High Street to call for the ancient facility to be invoked against the Prime Minister.

Member Martin Whiteside explained: "We've asked for this really as a last resort. We feel that the Prime Minister has gone beyond what is acceptable behaviour. He led Britain into an illegal war, undermining the role of the United Nations, repeatedly and seriously mislead the people and parliament and undermined a very important tradition that when a minister is known to have mislead parliament he should resign.

"As Prime Minister he should be seen to set an example and not be seen to be above law, tradition and good practice."

The peace movement has been holding vigils on the High Street every Saturday from 12pm to 1pm since the war in Afghanistan.
