A millionaire in the waiting

SOMEWHERE in the Five Valleys an unknowing millionaire sits on a Lottery ticket that is crying out to be cashed.

The tiny ticket is worth a staggering £1.6 million and was bought in the district for the tenth anniversary draw of the National Lottery which took place on Saturday, November 6.

But the lucky winner has not realised they have hit the jackpot and the huge sum has gone unclaimed.

Fabian Devlin of Camelot said: "Someone is going to have the best Christmas ever. "£1.6 million is a life changing amount and we are still hopeful that the winners will come forward.

"It was Bonfire Night the day before the draw so people may even have been out at fireworks parties and forgotten to check their ticket with all the excitement.

"Whoever they are, wherever they are, there is still plenty of time to claim so please get out the old shopping receipts, look through pockets and dig down the back of the sofa. "The champagne is on ice and all we need now, is the names to put on those cheques."

The exact details of where the ticket came from are being kept under wraps to protect the anonymity of the winner.

But it could have come from anywhere in the Stroud district, or even from the SNJ which gave out Lottery tickets as competition prizes that week. The winning draw numbers for the draw were 05, 17, 23, 26, 42 and 48.

The ticket-holders have until 5.30pm on May 5 next year to claim their prize, after which time the cash, plus the interest it has generated, will go to the good causes, adding to the £16 billion raised through sales of lottery tickets over the last ten years.
