CD will celebrate young rock talent

GLOS ROCKS, the monthly venue for bands under the age of 18, is to celebrate the launch of its first CD this week.

Featuring an impressive array of bands, including Sub Justice, Elysium, Malitia and In Blue Jeans, the Glos Rocks CD is a celebration of youth music and the party, which will feature a number of the bands on the CD, will reflect that.

"We did the first concert a year and a half ago," said organiser Kostka Garcia, who has been using his work with the Music Service to promote young bands. "As they've got more popular, they've happened more regularly.

"For a lot of bands, playing at Glos Rocks was the first time they'd played in public. Some of them have gone on to play a number of venues around the county.

"We did a live recording a while back which wasn't satisfactory, so I started to put aside money raised at the concerts to record the bands at DB Studios. Andrew Butler's been brilliant; he got the right production and mix for each band, he understood the sound of each band within minutes of meeting them."

Kostka has great plans for the future of Glos Rocks: "I'm applying for lottery funding," he said, "and if successful we're hoping to take the Glos Rocks bands further afield. And if the CD sells well, it'd be nice to do one every year."

The Glos Rocks CD launch party takes place on Wednesday, December 22 from 7pm. Tickets are £4 on the door and the event is open to all.
