Students show to boost appeal

TWO SECOND year BTEC Performing Arts students from Stroud were so moved by the devastating images of the Tsunami that struck the shorelines of the Indian Ocean at Christmas that they decided to put together a Charity Cabaret to help raise funds for those who are suffering as a consequence.

Katie Gregory (17) and Tracey Hatherall (18) have put together a show which combines music, drama and dance from previous performances done by the second year BTEC pupils at Cirencester College, and some as yet unseen acts.

"We have had full support from David Drew MP and the Stroud District Council - they have been such a great support and help. We could not have done it without them," said Katie. "They have worked really hard to help us in getting the Subscription rooms and they are funding the hire for us.

"We have also got the support of Johnny Coppin, who will be appearing in the event, along with Jenna Monroe, a local jazz singer," added Tracey. "We have been really surprised and encouraged by the amount of support we have received and we hope to raise lots of money for the disaster fund."

The charity cabaret will take place at the Subscription Rooms on Tuesday, January 25 at 7.30pm.

Katie and Tracey are also awaiting confirmation of a location in Cirencester for a second fund-raising show.

Tickets will be £5 or £3 concessions and can be bought at the box office on 01453 760900.

The doors will open at 7pm and last entry into the building is at 10pm. No under 14s will be allowed in unless accompanied by a responsible adult.
