Olympian Robinson takes Epney

OLYMPIC star Dan Robinson raced to victory in Gloucester AC's 10 mile road race at Epney.

Robinson finished six minutes clear of Dominic Croft.

In Belfast Stroud's Matthew Withey finished runner-up in the Under-15 boys' race and Slad's Kate Goodhead finished third junior woman in the senior event.

* Eight Stroud runners took part in the annual new year five mile race at the Pilot Inn, Hardwicke, run by Severn AC on New Year's Day.

Stroud came away with two age-group prizes. Peter Brook took the Vet 65 award and Phil Manning just scooped the Vet 45 award by the slim margin of three seconds.

Guesting for Stroud, Sam Donovan took the third lady prize in her first road run for many years, a good result for Sam as she does all her training on a running machine.

Results: Eighth Phil Manning V45 30.57, 17th Geoff Truman V50 33.40, 21st Chris Young V45 34.22, 27th Peter Brook V65 36.12, 28th Bill Chandler V55 36.41, 33rd Sam Donovan 37.20, 40th Terry Hefferman V55 40.57, 46th Paul Newbould V50 48.48.
