Cainscross are brought down by Aeroplanes

Cainscross 1st XV 7, Bristol Aeroplanes 1st XV 47

ANOTHER battling display for Cainscross this weekend as they put up a brave fight against the runaway league leaders. Aeroplanes started with the slope and were surprised to find Cainscross taking the early incentive and attacking well.

A scrum on the Aeroplanes' five metre line was taken against the head and the ball moved across the backs quickly. When Jamie Marsh was held up just shy of the line, lock Sam Mills was on his shoulder to score wide out.

A superb touchline conversion from Gareth Ponsford saw Cainscross go 7-0 up halfway through the first half. Aeroplanes hit back with two penalties and an unconverted try to give the visitors the advantage 7-13 at the break.

In the second half, several good attacking moves from Cainscross failed to result in scores and Aeroplanes continued to add on the points, with the elusive centre and fast winger doing all the damage. The Cainscross defence battled bravely but couldn't prevent the eventual score finishing 7-47 to the visitors. Man of the match for Cainscross, John Kerr.

Bristol Aeroplanes 37, Cainscross 2nd XV 24 CAINSCROSS United made the long journey to Bristol with only 13 players this weekend and had a very good game against the league leaders' second string. Aeroplanes lent a couple of players to make up the numbers and a very close game eventually finished 37-24 to the Bristol side.

Next weekend sees Cainscross play Tetbury across the board.
