Dance to Ska sound

NEW LIVE music night The Living Room returns to The Space next weekend with a heady night of ska from Stroud Valleys favourites Ska Daddy.

Formed four years ago as the result of a chance meeting in the local pub, Ska Daddy have become an essential ingredient in any Stroud Valleys festivity

Two thirds of the brass section, Dave and Mattie, are already seasoned Ska brass players, having played in London based Ska bands through the 80's and 90's.

The band pride themselves in creating a kind of Ska which remains faithful to the classics but which embraces dub and multi-media technology. These days Ska Daddy don't just play a gig, they create a happening.

"Anyone can dance to Ska, even people with two left feet. And everyone wants to," said Dave Andrews. "We always get a great crowd in Stroud, a real mix of ages, and no trouble from anyone."

"The Living Room was set up as a place for the people of the Stroud Valleys to roll in to and find many different sorts of music," said event organiser Rachel Thomas.

"I can't think of a bunch of musicians more up for the 'craic' than Skadaddy - it pervades their music in a way that is irresistible to audiences of all ages."

Ska Daddy play at The Living Room in The Space on Friday, February 25. Doors open at 8pm and tickets, at £7.50, are on sale at Riffs, Kanes and on the door.
