Hollywood at County Kerry

HOLLYWOOD. The name alone conjures images of fame, fortune, showbiz, glamour, scandal and celebrities. County Kerry - hear the name and one is more likely to think of quiet fields and, possibly, cows?

The international hit play Stones in His Pockets, returning to Cheltenham's Everyman in early March, tells the hilarious story of what happens when these two worlds collide. It's a magical, poignant and hysterically funny play starring just two actors, Christopher Nolan and Martin Jenkins, who between them play over fifteen different parts.

From aspiring local "actors", Jake and Charlie, to the film's leading lady and egotistical director; a whole host of extraordinary characters are brought to life with nothing more than a change of accent and altered body language.

Written by Marie Jones, Stones in His Pockets, has received the Laurence Olivier and The Evening Standard Award for Best Comedy. Jones has received a special award for Outstanding Contribution to the Cultural Life of Northern Ireland from Belfast City Council and the Literature Award from the Irish Post. The production received a Drama Desk Special Award and a Special Achievement Award from the Outer Critics Circle in New York.

The production has recently celebrated its fourth year in London's West End and has recently completed a world tour of America, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Austria, Canada, Argentina, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, Turkey, Italy and South Africa.

Stones in his Pockets comes to The Everyman on Monday, March 7 and runs until Wednesday, March 9. Performances start at 7.45 pm. Tickets cost between £9.50 and £17.50 and are available from the box office.
