FOOTBALL players and supporters from across the region have raised a further £3,000 for charities this week.
The Stroud Charity Football Cup Competition had already sent £1,000 to the Asian Tsunami Appeal and on Monday, at Frampton United AFC's ground, cheques for £1,000 were also presented to the Acorn Children's Hospice and County Air Ambulance respectively. The presentations were made by George Tudor, the vice chairman of the competition.
The tournament, formerly the Stroud Hospital Cup Competition, was started in 1920 when £50 was given to the hospital.
The name and format altered when the National Health Service began, to embrace a much wider area and other charities.
