Another bullish production from TaurusVoice

STROUD based theatre company TaurusVoice is to return to The Space in Stroud next week with Silenced: Voices of Freedom, a new show using poems written by political prisoners from around the world.

A moving, shocking and life-affirming production, Silenced explores the power of the individual in the face of oppression and celebrates the human quest for freedom.

"We were inspired by writers who managed to remain artists in the most difficult of circumstances," said cast member Adrian Brett.

TaurusVoice is renowned for its use of speech chorus and song and for its powerful theatrical style.

Its blend of drama, poetry, movement and song create a style of theatre that is unique.

The show has been devised by the company and is a natural progression from Voices in Love, their last show that used other people's poetry to form a loose narrative structure.

Silenced includes texts by celebrated Russian poet Irina Ratushinskaya, Nazim Hikmet from Turkey, Jack Mapanje from Malawi, Argentinian Hugo Diz and many others.

Silenced takes place at The Space on Friday, May 6 & Saturday, May 7 at 8pm.

Tickets, at £9 or £7 concessions, are available from Riffs Music Shop or on the door.
