Vibrant dance is musical fantasy

THE next Living Room @ The Space event features feted Festival band Fantazia, who play an irresistably groovy and rootsy blend of different musics.

Fantazia play a blend of Gnawa, Chaabi and Dance, which draws on the vibrant rhythms and rich musical tradition of North Africa.

Built around the original compositions of Algerian oud player Yazid, Fantazia's irresistible grooves create a sizzling party atmosphere that soon has any audience on its feet and dancing.

Formed in the late '90s, Fantazia emerged from multicultural Hackney, N.E. London.

Their self-produced debut CD, The Lost Place (2000), enhanced their reputation, receiving airplay throughout Europe, whilst the power of their live performances spread the word further in the UK.

Fantazia's festival appearances include Bracknell Festival, The Oris London Jazz Festival, Window on the World , Glastonbury, Brampton Live, Fest Noz, Sheep Music, Hubble Bubble Festival and Morecambe Worldbeat Festival.

They have performed everywhere, from The Hackney Empire to Prema in Uley.

Fantazia appear at The Space on Friday, May 20. Doors open at 8pm and tickets are available from Riffs Music Shop, Kane's Records and on the door, priced £7.50.
