DESPITE a couple of showers, the first Motor Show at St Rose's School in Stroud was a great success.
The event was sponsored by local car dealerships including Bayliss, Haines and Strange (Vauxhall & Chevrolet), Bristol Street Ford, Wicliffe Nissan, Olympic Cars (Peugeot), Robert Bamford at Gloucester, (Skoda, Ssang Yong), Gloucester Saab, John Wilkins (Suzuki), Johnsons Volvo (Gloucester), Mercedes Benz of Gloucester and Cheltenham, Cotswold BMW/Mini, H.A. Fox (Jaguar) and County Mazda/TVR.
The Show, Wheel Nuts, included an exhibition of almost 200 Classic, Veteran and Vintage cars and motorcycles from the region.
"It was a great atmosphere and a thoroughly enjoyable event," said Mrs Frances Billington, head of St Rose's School.
"Everybody who took part made very positive comments and offered congratulations on the quality of the event and are looking forward to next year's show on Sunday, May 7 2006.
"I would like to thank all who helped to stage the show and encourage everyone to look out for next year's event".
The money raised from the event is expected to reach at least £4,500 and will go towards the purchase of a specially adapted minibus for the pupils at St Rose's School which caters for children with physical disabilities.
