Ace Trainor runs riot

Premier Two Frocester 346-2 Downend 203 all out

NICK Trainor was in devastating form at Downend on Saturday, smashing a record 187 not out as Frocester inflicted a crushing 143 run victory over the home team.

Incredibly, Frocester were invited to bat and, although Ali Bressington and Adam Robson fell cheaply, Trainor and Steve Pope (31) added 106 to take the total to 133 in the 32nd over, with Trainor reaching his 50 from 63 deliveries.

Ben Gannon then joined Trainor in an awesome partnership of 190 in only 17 overs, with a scoring rate of 11 per over maintained.

As a result the Frocester total rocketed to 323 in the 49th over, when Gannon was dismissed for 75 from only 48 balls, which included nine fours and four sixes.

Trainor continued in majestic style with his century arriving from 107 balls, and his 150 from 132 deliveries.

The Frocester innings closed on 346 for four with Trainor undefeated on 187 which included 29 fours and four sixes.

Ali Bressington captured an early wicket, but the Downend batsmen made a brave attempt to match the required run rate.

However, they continued to lose wickets with Bressington (3-46) and Gannon (3-50) ripping the heart out of the Downend innings.

Ashley Davis (2-31), Nathan Bressington (1-29) and Jamie Rendall (1-21) also picked up wickets as Downend were dismissed for 203.

Cockspur Cup Frocester 212 all out Lansdown 73 all out

ON Sunday Frocester were in dominant mood again, inflicting a 139 run defeat on Lansdown.

Nick Trainor won the toss and decided to bat and, in partnership with Iain Collins, he added 69 for the first wicket, before falling to a catch at mid-off for37.

Ali Bressington joined Collins and took the total to 151 from 32 overs, when Bressington was bowled for an elegant 32.

A large total still looked on the cards but the Frocester innings faltered once Collins was caught at mid-off for 64.

Frocester innings subsided to 212 all out from the penultimate delivery of the 45th over.

However, this time Ben Gannon and Ali Bressington were the destroyers. Gannon's first delivery went for four wides, but he bowled Clay with the last ball of the first over.

Naylor suffered the same fate in Gannon's next over and then Bressington joined the party, capturing three quick wickets with Trainor holding two good slip catches.

When Gannon bowled Summers the scoreboard showed the unusual scoreline of 33 for six from eight overs.

Ashley Davis bowled eight very tidy overs for 15 runs, dismissing Louis Gegg, well caught at slip by Jamie Rendall. Ed Bressington captured a wicket with his first delivery and Rendall (2-3) polished off the tail, leaving Lansdown all out for a paltry 73.
