A SERIES of rock and pop music workshops organised by Maidenhill School in Stonehouse's music technician Kevin Howlett culminate in a concert at the Stroud Subscription Rooms this week.
The concert will be raising money for the CLIC Sargent cancer charity and will involve Maidenhill pupils and students from other schools in the Stroud District.
Some of the students taking part have heroes who died before they were born and appear to be much more interested in the music than in the glamour of the rock star lifestyle.
"Keith Moon is one of the best drummers ever to walk this earth," said Stratosfear drummer Shaun Jones.
"He was a true drumming god and should be appreciated for his drumming, not his lifestyle."
15-year-old Daniel Tucker, Maidenhill student and lead singer of Anonymous said: "In the past we have not been known to write much of our own material but I believe that this workshop can give us the knowledge we need - and I can improve on my vocal skills."
The BandIt concert takes place on Monday, June 13 at 7pm sharp. Tickets are £4 or £3 for children. Tickets are available on the door or from 01453 760900.
