Kids and parents pick up new skills

TO CELEBRATE adult learners week, the Museum in the Park hosted a family discovery day in conjunction with Stroud College.

Throughout the day, adults and children were given the opportunity try their hands at new skills as part of taster sessions.

More than 340 people turned up on Saturday, and had the opportunity to try knitting, African drumming and Indian head massage among other activities.

Museum administrator Abigail Large said the idea was to show people what diverse activities are available in the area.

An actor playing Edward Beard Budding, the Stroud inventor of the lawnmower was also in attendance.

And local author Katie Fforde presented the Local Community awards in recognition of people's learning achievements.
