MOTORCROSS fan John Mills was devastated when he discovered the bike he spent months saving up for had been stolen - the day after his birthday.
John Mills, a 34-year-old builder from Slad, realised his prized possession was missing on Friday, June 10 after being taken from a secure shed the night before.
"This has been more than a nightmare. I'd been saving for months to buy it and I had just finished getting it exactly how I wanted it."
The bike was locked in the shed, and thieves cut through locks to gain access to it.
John added: "The only item taken from the shed was the bike so whoever took it obviously knew what they wanted. It was probably someone who knew I kept it in there."
John had only had the bike for a couple of months, and in that time he had used it only two or three times.
"I had just had it serviced ready to take out at the weekend," he said. "Obviously I'm really hoping to get it back but as the days go by the chances of that happening are less likely."
The bike, which was worth more than £3,000, was a blue Yamaha with engine number G336E2981 and Vin number CG18C0002881.
police spokesperson Kate Nelmes said police are investigating the theft and anyone with any information should contact them on 0845 090 1234 quoting incident number 320 of June 10.
