SIZZLING weather was enjoyed by the crowds who flocked to the Chalford Show on Sunday.
As temperatures soared, visitors to this popular event enjoyed a thrilling selection of entertainment laid on to boost funds for the Chalford Sports and Social Club.
In a spectacular ceremony led by St Andrew's Pipe Band, SNJ editor Sue Smith travelled into the arena in style to officially open the show in a Rolls Royce courtesy of Anthony's Wedding Cars of Stonehouse.
Then first to take centre stage were Shirl's Girls line dancers who were joined by guest line dancers from Goettingen in Germany, Stroud's twin town.
Firefighters from Stroud's Blackwatch fire service were a popular attraction as they invited youngsters aboard their fire engines and offered advice on how to avoid fires.
Stroud Sea Cadets won applause for their cutlass display carried out magnificently despite the sweltering temperatures and throughout the day, Steve Kaos, international entertainer, stilt walker, clown and juggler kept people spellbound with his tricks.
As the day came to a close there was a two minute silence for the London bomb victims followed by a muster of all participants as the flags of local organisations were lowered.
The Union Jack and Chalford Sports Club's own flag were then ceremoniously folded and presented to Sue Smith and Graham Mayo, one of the club's treasurers who was representing club chairman, Mik Gorny, who had been taken ill shortly before the show.
Organiser Mike Lees said he was delighted with the turnout. "I am very pleased it all went so well and very grateful to local residents who came and supported us," he said.
An estimated 2,000 went through the gates on the day and Mr Lees is hoping around £2,000 will have been raised.
