Roaring trade at new-look festival

THE smell of fried onions, sounds of enthusiastic crowds and every sort of music imaginable filled the air at the Stroud Fringe Festival at the weekend.

Happy revellers craned their necks to get a look at the best up-and-coming acts playing at the town centre's five open air stages while cameras flashed around them.

Stroud's pubs, cafes and restaurants did a roaring trade, as did the assorted rides, stalls and attractions that lined the streets.

This year's new-look free festival was bigger and better than ever, thanks a dedicated organisational committee and talented local bands, who generously agreed to play for free.
