WITNESSES are needed to an incident in which a puppy died after being thrown from a moving vehicle in Woodchester.
police say the 13-month-old Staffordshire terrier cross bitch was thrown from a van in Convent Lane, where it was hit by traffic at 12.30pm on Monday.
Officers have arrested four people on suspicion of cruelty to animals. Three of those arrested - a 46-year-old man of no fixed address, a 33-year-old woman from Gossington, and a 38-year-old man from Dursley - have been released on police bail until October 11.
A third male, a 39-year-old from Stonehouse, was released without charge.
The body of the puppy was taken to a Stroud veterinary surgery where it will undergo a post-mortem examination.
Police are liasing with officers from the RSPCA in connection with the incident.
