Duo beam after Rovers bring down Harriers

GARY OWERS and Shaun Taylor couldn't fail to hide their collective delight after seeing Forest Green turn the form book upside down with a welcome victory over Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough on Saturday.

A Paul Wanless free-kick and Zema Abbey's brace gave Forest Green only their second win since the opening day of the season.

"It was an excellent performance and our victory was thoroughly deserved," said Owers.

"Although we'd only picked up six points until today I haven't been disappointed with our performance level."

Owers was particularly pleased to see former Norwich striker Abbey open his account for his new side.

Owers added: "Zema may have been off the pace last week, but there aren't a lot of players who can score a goal like his second and that is why he's here."

At time of going to press Forest Green were due to welcome Crawley Town. On Saturday Rovers travel to Scarborough and follow this with a trip to Gravesend on Tuesday.

Matt Gadsby, Ian Foster and Mark Beesley remain sidelined. However, Sekani Simpson, Bruno Teixeria and Damon Searle should come into contention after injury forced the duo to miss the match at Kidderminster.
