Quarter final agony for bowling ace Chandler

NEIL CHANDLER was the pick of the Gloucestershire bowlers at the Professional Bowls Association qualifer at Poole, but the Stroud man suffered agony at the Quarter-final stage.

Following a bye, Chandler stormed to wins over Rodger Herridge, Simon Broom and Duncan Hayne in the quarter-final of the Scottish Open.

However, he then lost to Richard Morgan, who went on to win a pace in the televised stage. Meanwhile, in the Welsh Open, Chandler again dropped out at the quarter -final stage.

Chandler had a three-set win over Kevin Stevens, plus straight sets wins against John Ross and Neil Collett before losing in the quarter-final to Clive Benham over three sets.

Popular local bowler George Ridgeon lost to Teresa Teresa Darnell-Langton in the Scottish, Nicky Donaldson in the Welsh and Rob Paxton in the international events.
