Light at end of injury tunnel

Forest Green boss Gary Owers has received a massive tonic ahead of this Saturday's home clash with Morecambe. Injured trio Mark Beesley, Ian Foster and Matt Gadsby have all been given the all-clear to return to the training ground.

"Mark Beesley should be back in a competitive shape by November, which is a tremendous boost to us," said delighted Owers.

Beesley struck impressive 12 goals last season before the former Chester City striker snapped his cruciate ligament against Barnet last March.

Meanwhile, Gadsby has returned to training, but it could be a significant time before the former Kidderminster Harriers player returns. Gadsby was blighted by injury during pre-season and this is proving a concern to Owers.

"An X-ray has revealed no further complications to his toe, but Matt Gadsby has missed a large chunk of training and will have to do a pre-season again to get himself into condition," added Owers.

Meanwhile, Foster has recently undergone clean-out surgery to his knee and the former Kidderminster striker is set to begin training next week. Sekani Simpson (ankle) will be available for the Morecambe clash.

Owers will certainly be looking for his side to 'wise-up' when they face a tricky test against high-flying Morecambe this Saturday. He said: "I've been pleased with the attitude of my squad, but we are better than some of our results and there is certainly room for improvement."

An indifferent performance against Crawley Town last week saw Rovers take a 2-0 lead inside five minutes only to see two points slip away in the final six minutes.

Earlier, Paul Wanless struck from 40 yards and then Alex Meechan made it two. However, when Wanless left the field at half-time due to illness, Rovers collapsed.

Meanwhile a late Neil Redfearn penalty afforded Scarborough a 1-0 win over Rovers last Saturday, in a game that Owers' side dominated.
