Vase run would be welcome cup of cheer for Wood

STRONG on paper certainly, but Shortwood management duo Ian Freebrey and Mark Sumpter will be urging their inconsistent side to deliver ahead of Saturday's home FA Vase second qualifying round clash against Devon outfit Cullompton Rangers, (3pm).

A 5-3 home defeat against Witney United last Wednesday, featuring a debut goal from Simon Harmer, was tempered somewhat by a battling 0-0 draw at Milton United on Saturday.

However a raft of injuries have certainly played their part, but it is now time for United to step up to the plate.

Star striker Chris Davis played his last game for United on Saturday. The former England school striker has taken a place at Loughborough University.
