Owers remains positive

FOREST GREEN boss Gary Owers is remaining in a positive mood despite seeing his side sit uncomfortably at the bottom of the Conference.

Owers watched Forest Green lose 2-0 at Accrington Stanley last Friday-their fourth defeat in six games, but the former Sunderland star took a thin slice of hope from this latest reverse.

He said: "We had 14 corners and six or seven of those almost resulted in a goal."

Owers was pleased with keeper Ryan Clarke and Cameroon striker Guy Madjo, who has joined on a month's loan from Bristol City. "Ryan made some good saves and I was pleased with Guy when he came on."

*Rovers travel to Aldershot this Saturday. The Shots have been boosted by the signing of former Bristol City boss Brian Tinnion. Owers added: "We need to pick up points and the players need to believe they can do that."

*Nigel Clough's Burton Albion come to The Lawn on Tuesday, December 6, 7.45pm.

*Forest Green have been drawn away to play Southern Premier Mangotsfield United in the first round of the GFA Senior Challenge Cup. This tie will be played (subject to any FA Trophy Replay) at Cossham Street on Tuesday, December 20, 7.45pm. Mangotsfield are managed by former Forest Green player Martyn Grimshaw.
