It's up to the public to cast their votes on art

THE judging panel to decide which artist will be awarded £2,000 by Stroud District Council to create an installation in Stroud's Subscription Rooms met on Friday at Ebley Mill.

Bad boy of art, Damien Hirst is one of the panel of judges which viewed the work of the five finalists, Cleo Mussi, Colin Glen, Oogoo Maia, Ben Tate and Joan Gabie.

Also on the panel is the SNJ'S arts editor, Adam Horovitz who described the quality of work submitted as "extremely impressive."

"There was everything from a video installation, to conceptual art and Chinese brushwork and all of it, very, very good," he said.

An exhibition of the finalists work opened at Stroud Subscription Rooms on Friday night until Sunday when members of the public were invited to attend and cast their votes.

This will count as one collective vote and will be added to the judges votes.

The announcement of the winner will be made in early December.
