An actor's life for me

RICHARD Loftus, who already been acting for much of his life and who played Peter Pan in the Cotswold Playhouse's recent production, has been offered a place at a top drama school.

Now he is putting on a show - A Date with Richard Loftus - to raise funds to go.

The 18-year-old performing arts student's interest in drama began when he saw Mamma Mia on the London stage on his 12th birthday.

"The combination of song, dance and acting just blew me away and sparked my ambition to perform," he said.

"I have been offered a place at Rose Bruford studying the American Theatre Arts Course. The first year is spent in Sidcup learning about American history and putting it into context with American plays and musicals.

"The second year is spent in Texas, USA and the third year is back in Sidcup producing and performing in a musical/play.

"During the year in America I will be unable to work as the VISA doesn't permit it. Therefore, my whole year in America I will be living off money earned/raised prior to that.

'A Date with Richard Loftus', which will hopefully help raise some funds to do this, will feature songs from the shows, a psychological thriller and some quirky facts/anecdotes you never knew about theatre and performers.

There is a wealth of experience in the cast, from directors, actors, singers and choreographers, so we hope to produce an entertaining evening." The show takes place on Saturday, March 25 at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £10 each, for those interested please send an SAE along with a cheque (made payable to R Loftus) to: A Date with Richard Loftus, 20 Bluebell Chase, Chalford, Stroud, GL6 8PG. They are also available on the door.
