STROUD School of Samba, an established community group in the for quite some time bringing Brazilian rhythms to people all over the county and further afield, is looking to start a brass and dance section.
"We've been very successful at what we do," said School of samba representative Michael Pitthan, "but now we want to offer something else. We are looking to start a brass and dance sections to complement the percussive group we have already.
"Carnival samba is all about expressing the more colourful aspects of life.
"Traditionally associated with lent, it is, for many, a chance to express their feelings, to come together as a group and let loose what has been held in check for most of the year, to encourage and allow others to do likewise.
"What the Stroud School of Samba would like to do is give people the opportunity to be part of this by offering dance and brass workshops with experienced leaders from London, which would be geared towards working with the percussion section and performances in numerous venues.
"Obviously some experience is required for brass players and a reasonable level of fitness for the dancers would be beneficial, but we don't want anyone to be put off. Tell a friend. Tell a lot of friends."
Anyone interested in taking part should call Michael on 07811 459169.
