Cooper gains podium spot

DANIEL COOPER opened the British 125cc GP Championship with a third-place podium finish at Brands Hatch on Sunday.

Earlier, Cooper, 18, got off to a bright start in his first session on Friday. The Brimscombe rider recorded the fastest time on a wet circuit. Session two saw Cooper register a pleasing third.

His consistency rewarded him with two third-place finishes on Saturday despite a visor problem. Sunday saw Cooper get off to a slow start.

Starting at three, he slipped to eighth going into turn one. However, he dug in and by lap four he moved up to three to claim a deserved podium finish.
