TRIAL Pit Cinema, the monthly screening of original short films and videos by artists and students living in Gloucestershire at Stroud's Subscription Rooms, returns this week.
Set in an informal caf environment with plenty of space between films for chat and laid-back sounds courtesy of guest DJs, the format is proving to be popular.
"Last month was a great hit, with a big turn out," said organiser Beth Szczepura. "This month we have work from local artist Fiona Kam Meadley, a 10 minute film called Postcard from Laos.
"An interview with a young Lao pop singer forms the basis of this video postcard of the artist's recent visit to this gentle, beautiful country in Indo China.
"Also showing is McGuffin - a four part series about a clumsy private detective. It has been excellently shot by its creators, a quintet of students from Cirencester College: Steve Hodsman, Ben Shipp, Chris Lyons, Steve Ware and Nathan Norris.
People from all backgrounds and of all ages have been enjoying Trial Pit Cinema.
"It helps that there is such a diverse range of films being shown," added Beth, "from music videos, art films and animations to documentaries.
Anyone interested in showing work at future events is invited to call Beth on 07886 663540 or email her at beth@trialpitcinema.co.uk
Trial Pit Cinema takes place on ThuSrday, March 30, in the cafe at Stroud Subscription Rooms. It starts at 8.30pm and entry is £2.50 on the door.
