Three is the magic number for school

STROUD High School has been rated the third best in the county for key stage three results.

The school performed well above average for English, maths and science with every pupil achieving at least Level Five in the tests designed for 14-year-olds.

Joyce Winwood, acting headteacher, was delighted with the results. She said: "We are very proud of our value added score and the English exams were taken a year early so they actually did them in Year 8 and we are thrilled the results are so good.

"I put the success down to thorough preparation by students and hard work by both teachers and pupils."

Marling School in Stroud and Cirencester Kingshill School also beat the national average and results for both schools are up on their performance last year.
