GARY OWERS has dismissed talk of a relegation reprieve and is demanding two wins from the final three games for Forest Green to cling on to their Conference National status.
Canvey Island are set to withdraw from the Nationwide Conference at the end of the season, which could hand Rovers a dramatic reprieve, but Owers has opted to ignore the potential lifeline.
Owers said: "As far as I'm concerned this is just paper talk. We have certainly got enough about us to win the next two games, which I think will be enough for us to get out of trouble."
Manager and director of Canvey, Jeff King has bankrolled the Essex side on a spectacular climb from the Essex Senior League to non-league's top division.
King has reluctantly decided to resign the club from the league in an attempt to cut costs.
He said: "We have gone up six leagues in the last ten years and yet still people have not come. There'll be a lot of sadness when we walk out of the door for the last time.
"The dream is over but there is a bright future."
